UAF GPA Calculator

Welcome to our UAF GPA Calculator Tool, designed to help UAF students calculate their Grade Point Average (GPA) based on their course marks and credit hours. This tool adheres to a detailed grading scale to ensure accuracy and simplify the GPA calculation process.

What is GPA?

GPA (Grade Point Average) is a measure of a student’s academic performance over a given period. It is calculated by dividing the total quality points earned by the total credit hours attempted. The formula used is:

GPA=Total Quality Points Earned/Total Credit Hours

How This Tool Works

  1. Input Marks: Enter the marks obtained for each course.
  2. Select Credit Hours: Specify the credit hours for each course (ranging from 1 to 5 credit hours).
  3. Grading Scale: The tool maps your marks to a specific quality point based on the credit hours using a predefined quality points table.
  4. Calculation:
    • For each course, the tool determines the quality points corresponding to your marks.
    • It sums up all the quality points and divides them by the total credit hours to compute the GPA.

Grading Scale

The tool uses a detailed quality points table based on credit hours:

  • 1 Credit Hour: Maximum 20 marks, quality points range from 0 to 4.
  • 2 Credit Hours: Maximum 40 marks, quality points range from 0 to 8.
  • 3 Credit Hours: Maximum 60 marks, quality points range from 0 to 12.
  • 4 Credit Hours: Maximum 80 marks, quality points range from 0 to 16.
  • 5 Credit Hours: Maximum 100 marks, quality points range from 0 to 20.

Example Calculation

Scenario:

  • Course 1: 16 marks, 2 credit hours.
  • Course 2: 40 marks, 3 credit hours.
  • Course 3: 70 marks, 5 credit hours.

Steps:

  1. Find the quality points:
    • Course 1: 16 marks (2 credit hours) = 2 quality points.
    • Course 2: 40 marks (3 credit hours) = 8 quality points.
    • Course 3: 70 marks (5 credit hours) = 16.67 quality points.
  2. The sum of quality points = 2+8+16.67=26.67.
  3. Total credit hours = 2+3+5=10.
  4. GPA = 26.6710=2.67.

Result: GPA = 2.67
